The 2022 elections must return to the House and Senate strong majorities dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all American citizens, to rebuilding trust in public service, and to restoring confidence in the United States around the globe. To that end, the Steady State, a group of former national security professionals, is announcing our first endorsements of outstanding candidates, including Representative Elissa Slotkin, who share our values, our commitment to the United States, and have strong national security experience.

Representative Slotkin (https://elissaforcongress.com) currently serves the residents of Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, and after redistricting, is running to represent the newly- drawn 7th District. After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Representative Slotkin began her career in national service. She was recruited to be a Middle East analyst by the Central Intelligence
Agency and worked alongside the US military during three tours in Iraq as a militia expert. In her fourteen years of national service, Representative Slotkin proudly worked for both Republicans and Democrats, and directly for President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. Until January 2017, she served as Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, overseeing policy on Russia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Representative Slotkin now serves on the House Armed Services, Veterans and Homeland Security Committees, and as the Chair of the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Counterterrorism.

Founded after the 2016 Presidential election, the Steady State now includes over 200 national security professionals. Steady State members include former intelligence officers, specialists in defense policy, diplomats, and Congressional staff. We are pleased to endorse Elissa Slotkin and other candidates for the House and Senate who will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen America’s democracy and place in the world.
