The 2022 elections must return to the House and Senate strong majorities dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all American citizens, rebuilding trust in public service and restoring confidence in the United States around the globe. To that end, the Steady State, a group of former national security professionals, is announcing our first endorsements of outstanding candidates, including Matt Castelli, who share our values, our commitment to the United States, and have demonstrated experience in national security.

Matt Castelli (https://castelliforcongress.com) is seeking election to the House of Representatives from the Twenty-First Congressional District of New York. His professional career testifies to his dedication to safeguarding the nation from the many domestic and international threats to our democracy.

After the 9/11 attacks, Matt joined the CIA. For over 14 years, he excelled in analytic, operational and management assignments, primarily focused on national security. He led intelligence collection and counterterrorism operations, serving in Afghanistan and Iraq; his team worked with the same unit that brought down Osama Bin Laden. Matt also served as Director for Counterterrorism on the White House National Security Council Staff, developing strategy, policy, and operations to safeguard the nation from terrorists and extremists.

In 2020, Matt took a leadership position with a New York-based technology company whose mission is to eliminate barriers to health care for veterans, rural communities and minorities. After the January 6th attacks on the U.S. Capitol, Matt decided to run for Congress, seeking to replace an incumbent who – unlike him – has refused to condemn those who would overturn our democracy.

Founded after the 2016 Presidential election, the Steady State now includes over 200 national security professionals. Steady State members include former intelligence officers, specialists in defense policy, diplomats, and Congressional staff.
