We Are On A Littered Road To An Unknown

This president of ours is engaged in an effort to break the US Government, weaken the US spiritually, commercially and industrially. He is making not the slightest effort to hide either the fact of this reality or the consequences that await us. We seem to be doomed to a darkening future, all of Trump’s sinister doing.

He has said that the VOA, shut down a few days ago, was guilty of “propaganda” that was “radical”. His tariffs, exploding over the breadth of American, Western and Eastern markets, are foretelling every American of increasing joblessness, decreasing housing opportunities, and higher prices for everything from Jujubees to Cadillacs. He has a fatally contorted view of the good the US has long stood for and exported to the world for decades.

Trump has literally zeroed out or slashed money that would have been invested in medical research (think cancer, Alzheimer’s, the miracle of new vaccine development, etc.), and the delivery of medical services to already ill-served poor and rural communities. He has withheld grant money from educational institutions, is commandeering direction of cultural institutions (think the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts).

In addition to withdrawing support from educational institutions of higher learning Trump is badgering some of Washington’s most prestigious (or formerly so) legal firms into paying them bribes of millions of dollars worth of pro bono work. At least two such firms have caved to agree and others are ‘negotiating’.

Fairness also demands some mention here of the ‘third rail’ of Social Security, and how Trump is maliciously and with subterfuge digging a hole under the entire program to sink it. He does this by cutting thousands of its employees, closing offices, making it near impossible for the elderly, immobile or unwell to access its life-giving services. That is not a slip-up. Not any more than a last-minute move to lose a federal program that helps the indigent pay to heat their homes.

Any American leader who is devilish enough to tackle the undoing or the undermining of the American jewel of Social Security, feed hungry children at school, or deny the critical significance of investing in scientific and medical research, has to be aware of the harm. It is a horrific step.

These are all moves taken with deliberation, intent. They sketch out in bold text a version of an American government partially disabled and spiritually vacuumed of its humanity.

There is a foul motivation at work here, and it has absolutely nothing to do with reducing the national debt, eliminating fraud, waste and abuse, or the reconstruction of global trade to better the nation’s future. What on earth is the end goal? How much more will the American people be willing to undergo on this road to an unknown location?
