SUBJECT: SITREP 17 “THE FREDONIA PROJECT” – OBSERVATIONAL DISPATCHES FROM AMERICA IN CRISIS SEPTEMBER 1-11 2025
SUMMARY:
IN ACCORDANCE WITH MFA DIRECTIVE 1826-APRIL-1, THIS EMBASSY HAS INITIATED A REGULAR SERIES OF ANALYTICAL DISPATCHES REGARDING THE INTERNAL DYNAMICS OF THE UNITED STATES. THE SERIES, DESIGNATED “THE FREDONIA PROJECT,” WILL BE CIRCULATED UNDER STANDARD SITREP PROTOCOL. UNAUTHORIZED PUBLICATION HAS BEEN OBSERVED VIA THIRD-PARTY ENTITY KNOWN AS “THE STEADY STATE.” PRESUMED LEAK. NO ACTION REQUIRED.
As summer 2025 ends and things in Washington, D.C. return to as close to normal as possible with Donald Trump still in the Presidency, Fredonia Embassy in Washington continues to focus on the dysfunction that is all around us, and most of the world. This sitrep, 017, covers the time period 1-10 September 2025.
On September 1, 2025, President Trump ordered a U.S. military strike in the southern Caribbean Sea, targeting a speedboat that originated from Venezuela. All 11 people aboard were killed. Trump claimed the boat was operated by the Tren de Aragua gang, classified as a narco-terrorist organization, and that it was transporting illegal drugs to the United States. Trump announced his authorization for the military operation, emphasizing it was a kinetic strike in international waters and sharing aerial video footage of the boat’s destruction. The official U.S. account stated that the strike was meant to serve as a warning to drug traffickers and cartels operating in the region, tying the boat and its crew to the gang Tren de Aragua and referencing its alleged connections to Venezuela’s government.
The Trump Administration has not publicly presented any independent evidence to confirm the vessel was carrying narcotics or to verify that its crew were affiliated with Tren de Aragua. Legal experts, human rights monitors, and opposition lawmakers have criticized the lack of transparency and questioned the legality, noting that the Trump administration did not provide proof of an imminent threat, armed resistance, or meaningful due process for those killed; Venezuelan officials also disputed both the U.S. claims and the authenticity of the video. (Ambassador Comment: As of this writing, the Trump Administration has provided no confirmation of any of Trump’s assertions about the boat. If the boat’s cargo and crew were as dangerous as Trump would have the world believe, we wonder why the boat was not surveilled until it reached its destination, and if that destination were, in fact, the US, why US authorities were not waiting to apprehend the “narco-terrorist” crew and their illegal narcotic cargo. Hmmm?)
On September 4, 2025, Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy Jr. testified in front of the Senate Finance Committee. Kennedy repeated and tried to defend his long-held views on vaccine science and the policies he has advanced, or at least put forward since he was confirmed (by many in the committee in front of which he was testifying). He explained that he had “not denying” people vaccines, and that his goal was to restore trust in the CDC, which he claimed had been lost due to “propaganda.” (Ambassador Comment: Robert Kennedy began his anti-vaccine tour in 2005, with an article in Rolling Stone and Salon, which repeated “data” on a mercury-based preservative used in some vaccines. In the article, Kennedy repeated the disproved link between vaccines and autism. The article was subsequently determined to be misinformation and was retracted by Salon and deleted by Rolling Stone. While Kennedy has pushed these inaccurate “medical” claims for two decades, we must point out that none other than the current President of the United States suggested drinking bleach and taking ivermectin to cure COVID as recently as five years ago. Public distrust in CDC, you say? How could that possibly have happened?)
Kennedy defended his decision to fire the director of the CDC and to replace the members of a key vaccine advisory committee with his own appointees. He also stated that the new vaccines would have to demonstrate “safety” before being widely approved. The proverbial ten foot pole would not come near most, if not all, of his “advisory committee.” (Ambassador Comment: While Kennedy has been opposed to vaccines for two decades, has he not done any investigation into how vaccines make it to market? Does he really believe that no one looks into medication before it is approved? Is this his brain worm in operational mode?)
Interestingly, per former Washington Post Columnist, now one editor of the Contrarian, Jennifer Rubin, “Republicans managed to find the opportunity to inch away from Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s insane, dangerous anti-vaccine policies and general incompetence.” At RFK, Jr.’s disastrous hearing…Republican Senators John Barrasso (R-Wy.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.) (both medical doctors and both of whom voted for Kennedy to be confirmed as HHS secretary) criticized Kennedy’s contradictory, false, and obnoxious testimony. (Ambassador Comment: Never to be outdone in the WTF sphere, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis bolted to the front of the “who is the stupidest senior state government’ contest,” and repealed state vaccine mandates even before Kennedy’s 4 September hearing.).
The Contrarian’s Jennifer Rubin quoted President Trump, responding to a question about the rescinding of school vaccine mandates in Florida, as saying, “you have to be very careful when you say that some people don’t have to be vaccinated…Look, you have vaccines that work. They, just pure and simple, work. They are not controversial at all. And I think those vaccines should be used.” (Ambassador Comment: There are simply no words. Except maybe to point out that before deciding science didn’t understand vaccines, Kennedy spent time moving a dead bear cub around New York City in the trunk of his car looking for a suitable place to leave it. He chose Central Park. No Words.)
On September 9, 2025, Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard’s office released a statement that said a draft of this year’s Global Trends report “violated professional analytic tradecraft standards” and was used to “propagate a political agenda” at odds with the sitting president’s policies. And that, for now, production of the Global Trends report is suspended. She sees such products as vehicles for what she claims is a “partisan political agenda” pushed by entrenched intelligence personnel. Her rationale echoes broader Trump administration complaints that intelligence outputs like the Global Trends report exaggerate threats or misrepresent data to undermine executive priorities. Gabbard “justified” suspending the production of Global Trends by repeating her belief that the intelligence community and its analysts are politicized and that intelligence products should align with the President’s goals. (Ambassador Comment: I have had the great good fortune to know many members of the US Intelligence Community and I can assert with no doubt that this is nonsense. Utter nonsense. While there have certainly been some IC calls that were not accurate, the personnel in the intelligence community, just like the professional staff of every US government agency, are not there to push a president’s agenda. At least not until Trump showed up.)
On the afternoon of 10 September 2025, right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at Utah Valley University in Utah. As of 1130 East Coast time on September 11, no one has been arrested. (Ambassador Comment: There are no words. Period.)
On September 11, 2025, many in the United States are observing the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Ceremonies are being held in New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania.
