The 2024 elections must produce House and Senate majorities dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all American citizens, to building trust in public service, and to maintaining confidence in American leadership around the globe. To that end, the Steady State, a group of former national security professionals, is announcing our first endorsements of outstanding candidates, including Jason Blazakis, who share our values, our commitment to the United States, and have strong national security experience.

Jason Blazakis is running in New Jersey’s 7 th Congressional District for the seat held by Tom Kean. He grew up in New Jersey, graduated from the University of Mississippi, Columbia, and Johns Hopkins, and began a career serving the American people in the national security field.

As a leader in the State Department’s counterterrorism bureau from 2008 to 2018, Jason helped protect the United States from terrorist threats around the world. With his prior State service in intelligence, political-military affairs, and international narcotics and law enforcement he will bring a broad background of foreign policy accomplishments to bear on the problems facing our country. We desperately need more Representatives like Jason; people who understand how the world really works and have the experience and expertise to help Congress promote American interests and values on behalf of our citizens.

Founded after the 2016 Presidential election, the Steady State now includes over 200 national security professionals. Steady State members include former intelligence officers, specialists in defense policy, diplomats, and Congressional staff. We are pleased to endorse Elaine Luria and other candidates for the House and Senate who will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen America’s democracy and place in the world.
