THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES KWEISI MFUME FOR MARYLAND’S 7TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Kweisi Mfume for Maryland’s 7th Congressional District.
Kweisi Mfume represents Maryland’s 7th Congressional District and has dedicated his career to civil rights, economic opportunity, and public service. A graduate of Morgan State University and Johns Hopkins University, he previously served as President and CEO of the NAACP and has held leadership roles on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, House Education and Labor Committee, and House Small Business Committee. His career has focused on civil rights, economic opportunity, healthcare equity, education, and strengthening public institutions. He has served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee since 2024
Kweisi Mfume demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
“Kweisi Mfume represents exactly the kind of institution-defending leadership our members spent their careers in public service to protect,” said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
