THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES SHAWN HARRIS FOR GEORGIA’S 14TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Brigadier General (Ret) Shawn Harris for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.

Shawn Harris is running for Congress in Georgia’s 14th District. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and rose to the rank of Sergeant, later earning his B.A. in Agribusiness from Tuskegee University, where he met his wife Karla. He deployed as an infantry commander in Afghanistan after 9/11, later led a team into Liberia during the 2014 Ebola outbreak, and retired as a Brigadier General after 40 years of military service. As the 2024 nominee, Shawn built a coalition of Democrats, Independents, and Republicans and earned more votes than any Democrat in GA-14 in over a decade.

Shawn Harris demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.

“Our nation’s security depends not only on capable professionals but also on elected leaders willing to uphold constitutional principles. Shawn Harris has both the experience and the commitment necessary to meet that responsibility,” said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
