THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES JIMMY GOMEZ FOR CALIFORNIA’S 34TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed Hon. Jimmy Gomez for California’s 34th Congressional District.
Jimmy Gomez represents California’s Thirty-Fourth Congressional District, one of the country’s most diverse districts, and has served in Congress since 2017. A graduate of UCLA and Harvard Kennedy School, he served in the California State Assembly, where he chaired the Assembly Appropriations Committee, before being elected to the U.S. House. In Congress, Gomez has built a national security profile through his service on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, including as Ranking Member on the CIA Subcommittee.
Jimmy Gomez demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
“Jimmy Gomez met every one of our criteria — commitment to the rule of law, support for oversight, national security competence, and respect for democratic norms. That combination is rare, and it matters,“ said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
