THE STEADY STATE ENDORSES JOAQUIN CASTRO FOR TEXAS’S 20TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
WASHINGTON — The Steady State, an organization of more than 420 former national security, intelligence, diplomatic, military, law enforcement, and homeland security officials, today endorsed the Hon. Joaquin Castro for Texas 20th Congressional District.
Joaquin Castro represents Texas’s 20th Congressional District, which includes much of San Antonio and Bexar County. A graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School, while in private practice he served five terms in the Texas Legislature before being elected to Congress in 2012. In Congress, Castro has built a strong national security profile through his service on the profile committees.
In arriving at this endorsement, The Steady State found that Mr. Castro demonstrates a consistent commitment to the rule of law, supports nonpartisan oversight and accountability of the Executive Branch, exhibits a substantive understanding of the national security challenges facing the country, and upholds the democratic norms and ethical standards of public service that the organization’s criteria require.
“Joaquin Castro understands that our alliances and our deterrence only work when they’re backed by credible, professional leadership,”said Steven Cash, Executive Director of The Steady State.
