The Steady State traces a common pattern: individual courage can break entrenched barriers, dormant government powers can become consequential; intelligence and expertise lose their value when politicized; the rule of law requires active defense; and personal instinct is no basis for national strategy.
We make a case for courage over conformity, evidence over ideology, law over expediency, and strategy over impulse. America’s constitutional system remains resilient only when individuals and institutions are willing to defend its principles—and recognize the dangers when those principles erode.
