The 2022 elections must return strong majorities to the House and Senate who are dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all American citizens, to rebuilding trust in public services, and to restoring confidence in the United States around the globe. To that end, the Steady State group of former national security professionals is announcing today our first endorsements of outstanding candidates, including Representative Andy Kim, who share our values, our commitment to America, and have strong national security experience.

Andy Kim (https://www.andykim.com) is seeking re-election to his third term as the representative from the Third Congressional District of New Jersey. The son of Korean immigrants, He was raised in the Third District, and now lives with his wife and two young sons just down the street from where he grew up. Congressman Kim graduated from the University of Chicago and studied at Oxford as a Rhodes and Harry Truman scholar.

Congressman Kim has dedicated his professional life to serving the nation. Before election to Congress, he was a career public servant in the national security area, under both Democratic and Republican Presidents. He worked at the United States Agency for International Development, the Pentagon, the State Department, the White House National Security Council Staff, and in Afghanistan as an advisor to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen. In the House of Representatives, he serves on the Committee on Armed Services, including the Subcommittees on Readiness and on Intelligence, Emerging Threats and Capabilities.

Founded after the 2016 Presidential election, the Steady State now includes over 200 national security professionals. Steady State members include former intelligence officers, specialists in defense policy, diplomats, and Congressional staff. We are pleased to endorse Andy Kim and other candidates for the House and Senate who will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen America’s democracy and place in the world.
