We maintain that democratic erosion begins when power is no longer held accountable to evidence, law, purpose, and the people. Whether the subject is military strategy, alliances, public servants, government records, elections, or local government, the same principles recur: power must have a clear purpose; actions matter because they send signals beyond official rhetoric; evidence and truthful records are essential defenses against manipulation…

THE MISSION
The Steady State continues its nationwide endorsement effort to help ensure Congress is filled with leaders who will protect the Constitution and defend the rule of law. And we file criminal referrals to push back corruption and this administration’s lack of respect for that rule of law.

Founded in 2016, The Steady State is a nonprofit 501(c)(4) organization of more than 400 former senior national security professionals. Our membership includes former officials from the CIA, FBI, Department of State, Department of Defense, and Department of Homeland Security.
